Paradise Dynasty @ Ion

So everyone has heard of the colourful XLB in Paradise Dynasty..Even I heard about it all the way back in Adelaide before coming home. So I had to try it the second day I arrived!

The colourful XLB that has flavours such as Original, Crab Roe, Foie Gras, Ginseng, Cheese, Truffle Oil, Garlic and Sze Chuan was certainly pleasing to the eye. There was also a specific order in which you had to eat the XLB by so that the stronger flavours would not overpower the lighter ones. As for the tastes of each flavour, well it was controversial… Overall the XLB was better than the usual ones..the skin was thin and light and did not break when you picked it up with a chopstick.

Original- :)

Crab Roe- :D

Foie Gras- Ok

Ginseng- Ok

Cheese- -.-

Truffle Oil- :D :D

Garlic- :)

Sze Chuan- Was not as hot and soury as I had hoped it would be…

Hot and Sour soup…I like :D Especially without the spring onions and coriander leaves on top!

Mapo Tofu

Braised Tofu with Mushrooms

Spicy Dan Dan La Mien– Gotta admit that the la mien here is by far one of the best Ive tried. The noodles were springy and the chilli was just nice!

Egg White with Seafood.. Add extra vinegar from the table and I find that it tastes better!

It’s hard to go wrong with stir fried string beans, garlic and minced pork!

And of course, I always end each meal with dessert :)

Red Bean Pancake that was a real winner. Not too oily with crispy skin and just enough red bean filling.

One of their ‘star’ dishes..the Red Bean and Banana Souffle Balls

Two of my favourite fillings in a souffle ball..YUMS! :D Be careful when you bite into it when it first comes out though! It’s piping hot!

Paradise Dynasty does not take reservations so you got to go early if you want a table (before 12pm should be safe) if not go during tea time at about 4pm. Any time before that, you will have to take a number and wait in line. That’s how popular this place is even though the restaurant is pretty big!
