B Bakery

Awww.. gotta hand it to the best friend for all her effort. And if she hadnt brought me here for my birthday, I think I might never have tried the BEST and OMGGG MOST AMAZING STICKY DATE PUDDING EVER!! Hee! Celebrated my birthday here with Xin and PP, somehow the winding through Beach Road and Haji Lane was really worth it!

Praline Mousse, Praline Brulee, feullitine $4

Passionfruit Cheesecake $6

Cinnamon Bun $3

and…saved the best for last!!

Sticky Date Pudding with Butterscotch Sauce $6

Three of us couldnt decide which cake was our favourite because they were all so so good. Even the cheesecake felt so light and the passionfruit gave a subtle sour twist to it. You HAVE to make a trip down here! DEFINITELY worth it! B Bakery also has a menu of savory items that look real promising with pasta and hummus platters etc etc :) :)

1-Caramel @ One Rochester Park

Girly brunch day out with desserts and cupcakes :)

1- Caramel is located at the second level of One Rochester and the first thing you step into when you open the door is the pastry kitchen where you witness first hand yummy desserts being made! And when you look straight ahead, you are then greeted by this amazing fridge of goodness!

Let’s take a closer look at them! :D

The pretty cakes that are made to order as well :) Would really like one of these for my birthday please! TYVM! Teeheehee :D

You are then escorted by the waitress through a second door to the balcony where the tables are. This place is cozy and small- only able to take up to a maximum of 16 diners!

The three of us settled on the lunch special which was a main + a cupcake for $12 ++

Both Soe and Celine chose the Single Egg Benedict

With smoked salmon, home fries and salad

My ‘BLT’ Fried Wrap with warm bacon, melted gruyere and lettuce

My Hazelnut Praline cupcake

Celine’s Chocolate Berry Lust cupcake

Soe’s Red Velvet cupcake

We also ordered a 3 petite dessert sharing platter- (from front to back) Raspberry lychee rose pannacotta with lychee lemon compote, Earl Grey Creme Brulee and Tropical Vodka Trifle with Coconut Sorbet $16

Lovely place and especially convenient if you have a car, if not a walk from Buona Vista MRT station would be about 5-7min. Im a huge sucker for presentation, pretty desserts and nice ambiances so technically 1-Caramel did tick all the boxes. But maybe we three had a tad too high expectations that we were a little disappointed because the desserts looked a lot better than they tasted. Then again, we may have been unlucky in our selection because there were other amazing looking ones that we did not get to try. 1-Caramel isnt a MUST-TRY but it’s a lovely place for a catch-up especially with your girlfriends and you get to take pretty photos here too! ;)

Recipe: Baby Molten Chocolate Magic Cakes

Baking, eating good food, recuperating from an 8 week long illness, watching my waistline expand exponentially as I try to fit into old shorts and slacking all day- Yup, that pretty much sums up my winter break. Cant say Im not enjoying my life at the moment :) Mum looked at me yesterday and said ‘Baby, maybe you should go easy on the food…you are putting on quite a bit of weight‘. Thanks mum :( But I still tire out too easily to do any form of exercise except walk and the weather aint that fantastic to do that either (and yes I am just making excuses for myself :X)

Anyhow I decided that baking was still a form of exercise e.g. whisking manually is good for arm training..maybe?? Hee so I tried this super easy recipe that I found from The New York Times and it was such a success the whole family loved it :) Yay! Nothing makes me happier than seeing my loved ones happy (how cheesy but very true!) So here’s the recipe and go ahead and try it, it’s really simple and foolproof! :D

A new episode of Pretty Little Liars is out! Im off to watch it :)

Ingredients (exactly 4 ramekin servings):

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup of semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of flour
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

  1. In the top of a double boiler set over simmering water, heat the butter and chocolate together until the chocolate is almost completely melted. While that’s heating, beat together the eggs, yolks, and sugar with a whisk or electric beater until light and thick.
  2. Beat together the melted chocolate and butter; it should be quite warm. Pour in the egg mixture, then quickly beat in the flour, just until combined.
  3. Butter and lightly powder four 4-ounce molds, custard cups, or ramekins. Tap out the excess cocoa powder, then butter and powder them again. Divide the batter among the molds.
  4. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees. Bake the molds on a tray for exactly 7 minutes; the center will still be quite soft, but the sides will be set.
  5. Invert each mold onto a plate and let sit for about 10 seconds. Unmold by lifting up one corner of the mold; the cake will fall out onto the plate. Serve immediately.

  • Dig in and watch the molten chocolate flow.. :) :) :)

Oh if you dont wish to eat it straight away e.g. I made one for myself first and kept the rest of the batter in the ramekins in the fridge until dad, mum and car car came home. Then, make sure that the batter is brought out of the fridge and brought down to room temperature before baking it in the oven and it will still be as beautiful and fresh :)

PS. Cafe @ Harding Road (Dempsey)

So we took a cab here from Casa Verde because we were craving for good old chocolate desserts and PS. Cafe never fails to deliver in their desserts. It’s like a fail proof go-to place whenever one has a dessert craving.

*NEW* PS. Chocolate Mousse (made with 72% Valrhona Chocolate) $14.90

Dark Chocolate Pecan Pie served with Vanilla ice-cream

Check out the many pecans in the layers!

Though the desserts here are always awesome, prices are a little on the hefty side. Total bill for 2 desserts and 2 teas came up to $50.81 which was more expensive than dinner ($43). So while I really do love PS. Cafe with their food, delish cakes and pretty ambiance, cant afford to go there as often as I would like to! :(
