Adelaide Eats: Dumpling King on Grote Street

Every international Asian student has heard of Dumpling King. Cheap and authentically tasting Asian food- what’s not to love? It’s literally fast food here. Dont expect fantastic service but you can expect good food :) They just opened another branch on King William and that is getting as crowded during peak hours as well!

Steamed Peking Pork Dumpling (15 pieces) $6.80

Dan-Dan Noodle with Spicy Pork Sauce (dried) $7.80

Taiwanese Beef in Noodle Soup $7.80

Noodle with BBQ Lamb in Spring Onion Sauce $7.80

Fish Ball Soup $4.50

Adelaide Eats: Elephant Walk Cafe

I really dont understand the deal with dessert places with dimmed lights. Devour Dessert Bar, Elephant Walk Cafe and Spats Cafe are 3 such examples. Really, what’s the point of not being able to see clearly what you are eating? But then again, they say that when one sense is blunted, another is heightened, so Im guessing taste in exchange for sight? Anyhow to give this place some credit, while the seats are a little cramped (or cosy as some like to put it), there is a backyard with proper tables and chairs (if you dun mind sitting in the cold and eating ice-cream of course) and it is actually quite pretty! Think desserts under the stars =P I like!

Peanut Butter Waffles $12- Served with chocolate syrup, peanuts, ice-cream and cream in between the waffles

Peanut Butter and Jelly Cake $12– served with ice-cream, cream and fruit

Banana Waffles $12– Banana, chocolate syrup, cream and ice-cream with 2 waffles

Sticky Date Pudding $12– Served with ice-cream, cream and fruit

Yes as you can tell, I love my peanut butter :) Nice place to go and chill but preferentially not in a big group or you’ll find yourselves pretty squashed in the sofas like we were. But I guess it is a nice romantic cafe and we saw many couples there! Hee

Adelaide Eats: Queen Street Cafe, Croydon

Spiced Braised Beans Claypot with Baked Eggs

Scrambled Eggs with Chorizo and Sauteed Mushrooms

Blue Swimmer Crab Omelette with Fresh herbs

Avocado, Black pepper, Lime on Dark Rye with Crispy Speck

No one does a good brekkie like QSC does! :) Best start to a morning and most delish ever!  Love the uniqueness of their dishes. It’s a waste that there was no more room in the tummy for dessert though, the table next to us ordered the Belgian waffles and my did it look so tempting!! :D

Adelaide Eats: 4 Table Korean BBQ

Free sides!

Spicy Chicken BBQ $17.50

Premium Beef Ribs $19.50

Tofu Hot Pot $14.50

Staff was very friendly and efficient though I think 2 of them running the whole show was a tad overwhelming for them as they seemed very shorthanded especially when the crowd started to come in. Also thought the dishes were a little overpriced for their portions especially after eating at Charcoal Hwaro Korean BBQ the next day and enjoying their buffet, eating till I was stuffed and paying the same price in total… Worth a try but maybe not a second visit when the one in Pitt Street is much more convenient and value for money!

Adelaide Eats: Back To The Aviary

So it was a night of bringing friends around to my favourite food haunts! :) First it was to WASAI for dinner and then it was off to the Aviary Dessert Kitchen for dessert because everyone has to try their green tea matcha latte + macaron flower pot! =D

Hot Cappuccino $3.70

Green Tea Matcha Latte $4.20

Sticky Date Pudding $10.50

A warm moist classic pudding. Served with homemade Butterscotch sauce and your choice of vanilla ice cream or rich double cream.

Hot Chocolate Fondant $11.50

A moist chocolate pudding encasing a oozing chocolate liquid centre. Served with almond & hazelnut praline, strawberries and Cookies ‘n’ Cream ice cream

Hazelnut Macaron Flower Pot

People were still walking in at about 12mn and the place was still bustling even though it was so late in the night! I really love the decor of this cafe, with its purple velvety couches and random bird cages everywhere :) Definitely must ring up to make a reservation if you want a table. We were almost made to sit at the bar counter facing the streets because it was an impromptu visit on our part but luckily a table finished upstairs so we were able to move! :) Awkward sitting in a line facing the streets eating your desserts I’d reckon! Especially when the group is big!
