Sogurt & SOFRIES @ The Star Vista

Frozen yogurt has become a culture in Singapore in the past two years. From the famed Yami Yogurt to the newest chain that has arrived from USA- Red Mango, this low-fat, high calcium and deliciously healthy dessert is fast winning the hearts of the young and old alike. And while it is becoming common to find a yogurt shop in Singapore to get a sweet craving fix, it is not easy to find one who gives you just the right amount of toppings you’d like for your yogurt. You know, the exact cut peaches to crushed nuts to yogurt ratios? Well maybe you are not as OCD as I am but surely the thought of adding as much toppings as you would like does excite you and makes the whole yogurt experience more exciting.

Well, homegrown yogurt chain Sogurt is exactly like that and regardless of what you add and the 6-8 yogurt flavours you choose, it is only $3.30/100g.

The drill is simple. Choose the size of your cup, dispense your favourite yogurt flavour (I personally love Original) and swirl it anyway you like it. Then scoop from at least 20 different choices of fruit, nuts, biscuits and marshmallows to top it off before weighing the cup at the cashier and paying for it! Simple, fun and so hands-on!

And now, after having successfully opened 5 Sogurt outlets (with the newest being at The Star Vista), this yogurt chain has branched out into serving savoury food as well, with their latest venture- SOFRIES.

And just like their yogurt counterpart, SOFRIES is all about variety, choices and personalising your very own fries combination. As the menu states, there are 4 different cuts of fries in 2 sizes and up to 15 types of dips to pick from. For the more adventurous who love the whole enchilada, go for the ‘the works’ selections that is bound to excite that inner fries fan in you! We hear that the SOFRIES SURPRISE has been a hit and everyone is loving their fries dressed in that melted cheddar cheese and bacon bits combination.

The three of us got to try all four fries cuts- the straight, cereal, curly and sweet potato. And we all agreed that the sweet potato fries was a favourite. And I could not stop dipping my fries into the Gimme Garlic dip that was dangerously addictive. This garlic aioli was very very rich in pounded garlic and the resultant mayonnaise- like texture was rich and flavoursome. Needless to say, it is not a first date choice dip but you MUST try it!

There were also other dips like the Rendang Riot which had a very authentic taste to it and I could certainly imagine my beef or mutton being cooked in that, though a more concentrated version would have been ideal. And the Sofly Sauce which is their special concoction is another dip worth trying. Sides such as Mini Cheesy Sausages, Chicken Kaarage and Nuggets are also available on the menu.

The very first SOFRIES store is located at the basement of The Star Vista and while there is no seating area, you can however order your fries and have them served to the Sogurt shop on the 1st floor where you will be able to end off the meal with your personalized yogurt cup combination as well! So do drop by The Star Vista soon for some fries & dips and self-serve froyo love.

Thank you Natalie for the invite and for being such a great host!
