Best of Asia Seafood Fiesta @ PARKROYAL on Beach Road

Seafood and buffet lovers will be thrilled to know that they can get the best of both worlds here at Plaza Brasserie, PARKROYAL on Beach Road with their special Best of Asia Seafood Fiesta from the 8th of March- 31st May 2013 with special additions to the buffet line during the Easter season and Mother’s Day where mothers will be pampered with a complimentary glass of cocktail and a return buffet voucher for Father’s Day!


Begin the seafood extravaganza by tucking into the wide variety of hot appetizers such as Tangy Crabmeat Cake with Coriander Leaves, Deep-fried Crab Claws, Gratinated Half-shell Scallops with Fresh Herbs and Baked Whole Salmon. If you prefer to start your feast on a cold note, the Black Mussels, Tiger Prawns, Australian Queen Scallops, Fresh Oysters and Flower Crabs at the Seafood on Ice section are a good way to go.


Several ‘live’ cooking stations are also available along the buffet line such as the Teppanyaki Grill, where Chef cooks a selection of Prawns, Stingray, Sotong and Salmon in front of your very eyes. This is however only available from Fridays- Sundays.

But buffet diners on the weekdays need not fret because weekday specials of Red Garoupa and Sea Bass, cooked in either Hong Kong or Thai style are equally scrumptious. I know I enjoyed my uber fresh Steamed Sea Bass with Nonya Sauce (first picture) very much!


The Laksa Lemak is also another ‘live’ station offered at the Best of Asia Seafood Fiesta where you can get your fix of this spicy coconut-based gravy noodles that is only cooked upon order. The best part about buffets is that you can go back for as many bowls as you want till you are completely satisfied!


Other non-seafood delights include the Penang Char Kway Teow cooked by a chef who actually originates from Penang so you can be assured that the authentic taste of this hawker favorite is preserved, especially with those bits of cockles. This is a must-try in my opinion and a sure reflection of the Best of Asia.


Crabs are probably the most well loved seafood item among Singaporeans so rest assured, Chef Jackson Goh and his team have gotten your crab cravings all covered. With the usual favourites of Stir-fried Crab with Egg Yolk, Stir-fried Crab with Black Pepper Sauce and Stir-fried Chilli Crab available, my vote goes to the not-so-commonly seen Green Curry Crab which packed quite a punch with its sauce.


Shellfish selections include the Vietnamese White Clams with Thai Chili Sauce that was sweet and spicy with extremely fresh clams that did not have that grimy aftertaste that I usually shun away from!


The Southern Bay Clams with Black Bean Sauce too holds its own with the saltiness of the fermented black bean paste which was strangely addictive. These Southern Bay Clams are burly in size and hold quite a bit of meat in its shell so you are thoroughly satisfied.


For an unusual Peranakan spin on your prawns, dont forget to try these Sambal Prawns that are coated with Spicy Dried Shrimp Paste or more popularly known as Hae Bee Hiam. Piquant with umami flavour, this one is sure to be a favourite with the buffet goers.


Served Otak style, wrapped in banana leaves and with Chinchalok alongside, these Sambal Stingray are a miniature version of those that we usually seen grilled at seafood places but with no less flavour. The smooth white flesh of these mini sambal stingrays were succulent, firm and had just the right amount of spiciness in the sambal. I enjoyed them so much, I had to go for seconds and thirds!
