This Lunar New Year, Head Chef Mok Wan Lok of Szechuan Court dishes out eight meticulously crafted New Year set menus together with other chef signatures for you to usher into a prosperous 2014 with both family and friends. Available from 17 January to 14 February, these epicurean menus are set to impress and showcase the opulent flavours of this festive season.

ULTIMATE SUCCESS YUSHENG
$228++ (serves 10 to 12 persons)

Tossing of Yu Sheng is a traditional practice mandatory at all reunion dinners and Chef Mok uses especially exotic and premium ingredients in his exquisite creation. Taking the shape of 马, which means ‘horse’ in Mandarin, the dish pays tribute to the Chinese horoscope of the coming year with African abalone, salmon sashimi, Boston lobster, dressed in Chef’s special blend of sauces as you toss to ultimate success for 2014.

SHANGHAI DUMPLING IN SUPERIOR BIRD’S NEST CONSOMMÉ
$16.80++ per serving

A new and much welcomed addition to this year’s CNY menu, this pork and seafood dumpling sits luxuriously on a bed of bird’s nest and chicken consommé that has been simmered for at least 6 hours, extracting the full flavour and richness of the broth. This is an indulgence worth splurging on.

GOLDEN SCALLOP INGOTS
$48++ (Small) $72++ (Medium) $96++ (Large)

Another item making its debut on the menu, these golden scallop ingots symbolize wishes of wealth and prosperity for the person eating it. Encased in a lightly fried breaded skin, a bite of these ingots reveals a sweet and juicy scallop. We highly recommend complementing these golden hued bites with Chef’s homemade Thousand Island sauce for an added punch and note of creaminess.

HOME-MADE GREEN TEA AND TRADITIONAL NIAN GAO WITH GRATED COCONUT
$12++ per order

For desserts, opt for the Green Tea Nian Gao, a contemporary twist on the timeless classic Lunar New Year dessert that is believed to enhance good luck, harmony and unity. We thoroughly enjoyed those grated coconut flaked grated over the glutinous cakes for an interesting contrast of textures. For all things traditional, the usual brown sugared variations are also available.

DIVINE LUNAR NEW YEAR DIM SUM

Chef Mandy Yeo’s creations for this special Divine Lunar New Year Dim Sum menu include a Golden Dragon Har Gao filled with prawns and crabmeat, brushed with a stroke of edible gold for added opulence. For a touch of decadence and luxury, this Foie Gras Golden Treasure Bun $9.80 is assured to please. Fusion takes on a refreshing new meaning as a huge piece of creamy foie gras is paired with crisp alfafa sprouts and fresh fruits for a tangy twist. We loved that golden mantou and all it contained. Definitely an interesting dim sum item to order for a change.
