Veuve Clicquot Champagne Sunday Brunch @ Edge, Pan Pacific Singapore

Sundays have just gotten a whole lot more indulgent with Edge’s new launch- a brand new Champagne Brunch experience featuring unlimited booze- Veuve Clicquot champagne, wines, beers, cocktails and the likes. Dubbed one of the longest brunches in Singapore, the gastro‐tainment dining experience begins from 12pm and last all the way till 4pm, with seven different food theatres preparing food a la minute, ‘live’ grills, a 2 metre long Cheeseboard and a dessert station featuring over 20 sweet treats.

The good people from Pan Pacific Singapore have spared no expense in spoiling you with this extravaganza. So simply be prepared to get ‘lost’ in the sights, sounds and smells of your surroundings and enjoy the interactive nature of this sensorial experience.

The mechanics behind how this whole brunch buffet works is simple. Take a couple of wooden sticks provided which have your table number labeled on it and bring it along with you as you browse through the buffet line. If anything at the ‘live’ stations catch your eye, make your order and hand over a stick. The food will then be served to your table.

In the meantime while you are waiting, get started on the self service sections such as the Crustacean on Ice display with free-flow Boston lobsters, Alaskan King Crabs, Pawns and Scallops.

Also next to it, is a shucking station of 3 types of French and Canadian Oysters. Superbly fresh and delectable. It was definitely one of the key highlights for many.

Various sushi and different kinds of sashimi are also available- cut to order. Do remember to make special requests for Salmon Belly or Tuna Belly for added luxury.

If you are one for breads, the pastry section is not to be missed. Fluffy croissants, chocolate donuts, jam filled buns, brioches, soft rolls, hard rolls and muffins are all for the taking.

From the Dim Sum section which was not exactly extensive but sufficient with the usuals of Har Gao, Siew Mai and Baos. Nothing really fancy so save some space if you are more interested in conquering the rest of the buffet spread.

For the meat lovers, go crazy with the Pan-seared Foie Gras, Prime Rib, Waygu Beef, Suckling Pig, Omi Wagyu Beef, signature Pan Pacific Sausages and Crispy Kurobuta Pork Belly. Succulent, delectable and honestly sinful, these stations are not for the faint-hearted.

Other items made a la minute include grilled seafood, pasta offerings such as the Duck Confit Ravioli, which comes highly recommended and an egg station doing scrambled, fried, omelettes and a mean Poached Egg with Truffle Coulis.

Asian delights are not neglected with Malay, Indian, Singaporean and Thai cuisines equally represented in both appetizers and main courses. I loved their array of spices, chillis and various condiments.

At least 6 types of Satays- Beef, Chicken, Mutton, Duck and other exotic or less common varieties of meats are also grilled ‘live’.

My favourite dish from the Thai food section had to be the Mango with Sticky Rice drizzled with coconut milk. From the slicing of a fresh mango taken straight out of the basket, to the scooping of the sticky rice, the entire plate was put together in front of us. So on hindsight, I really should have asked for more sticky rice and even one more mango or returned for seconds because it was so good!

But of course, I had to conquer the desserts table which was insanely awesome and simply a candy wonderland! Macarons, Cake pops, Tarts, Chocolates, Candy, Cupcakes, Waffles, Pancakes and homemade Ice-cream, it was all too irresistible to stop at one round. Even those with a gluten intolerance are not forgotten, with the pastry chef making a huge Gluten‐Free Red Velvet Cake and Chocolate Brownie that are both gluten-free and equally delicious just for you!

Oh yes, and that Candy Crush Sponge Cake was a definite hit with more adults and kids alike. Who can honestly resist a BLUE cake that tastes scrumptious as well? Well, all of us could not!

It is safe to say, we ended our afternoon on an extreme sugar high.
