The Westin Singapore’s The Brunch Beats at Seasonal Tastes

Not quite like your usual Sunday Champagne Brunches, The Brunch Beats at Seasonal Tastes of The Westin Singapore sets itself apart with groovy tunes and a spectacular view of the South China Sea from your seat at level 32. And of course just to name a few other attractions, there is also free flow Veuve Clicquot champagne, fresh gorgeous seafood, live interactive stations, a Steak à la minute Service and an assortment of beautiful desserts offered at this international buffet. Either way, this is one Sunday party not to be missed.


Toast to the weekend with a wide range of alcoholic beverages to choose from. Be it cocktails concocted by the resident mixologist, Veuve Clicquot champagne served from magnum bottles, wines, craft beers or even mix-it-yourself Bloody Marys, there is no excuse not to get a little tipsy from the endless supply of booze available.


For those less interested in alcohol, go straight for the seafood section on ice which entices with its stunning display of oysters, crabs, lobsters, prawns, scallops and mussels.


If you are a fan of seafood as much as I am, then indulge in this section as much as you want. The detox and diet can begin tomorrow. What cholesterol did you say?


Various types of sushi, smoked salmon prepared in different ways e.g. Thai-style and cold salads are some of the many light appetizers to choose from as well.


Another unique factor of The Brunch Beats is the spontaneous tableside service of chefs and servers bringing tasting portions of special creations right to your table. These offerings include but are not limited to Scrambled Eggs with Truffle on Toast, Foie Gras, cuts of Steak and even Margarita shots!


From the Roasted Meats and Local Cuisine Sections, savor some exotic Indian Tandoori-style Prawns, Thai Tom Yum Noodles Soup, a whole Suckling Pig, even Pâté and Foie Gras. I personally enjoyed the Tom Yum Soup which ticked all the boxes for its sourish notes and even spiciness. The Suckling Pig too was crackling delicious and moist- I would have taken a few more pieces if I was not saving space for dessert!


Finally reaching the desserts, make sure you get a taste or dip of their signature Matcha fondue fountain that makes a statement with its lightning green colour. An insider at The Westin shares that their pastry chef is also currently experimenting with other flavours so expect a Rose or Strawberry fondue fountain coming your way soon!


For the health-conscious, have some customized yoghurt concoctions prepared on frozen granite stone upon order. Add in toppings of walnuts, granola or raspberry for more flavour and crunch. I asked the lady at the counter to put everything in and the combination was not disappointing at all. The yoghurt can be a little on the sourish side though!


Peranakan kueh kuehs are also available on display but as appetizing as they may look, go easy and do not take too much at one go because items like the baked tapioca cake, kueh dadar and rainbow lapis might be a bit too heavy especially towards the end of a buffet.



Most importantly of all, the beats played at The Brunch Beats are spun by renowned Dutch DJ/Producer Lindo Martinez who has made a name for himself in the electronic music scenes of Berlin and Amsterdam. Probably not the mood you would want to have if you are nursing a hangover from the night before but definitely the perfect mood set for an afternoon party and who knows, you might even end up showing off some dance moves after a drink or two.
