Travel: 5 Things To Do & See In London

pDSC_0272-001

Back in December, I acted on a spurt of spontaneity and tagged along with my sister to London for her work trip, where I spent about 10 days there exploring the beautiful cosmopolitan city with its rich culture and architecture dating back to the medieval times. I did most of the traveling in the day by myself as my sister was working and while there was definitely some anxiety having to navigate the huge city by myself, especially since I have not been back in the last 17 years, I did end up having an amazing time.

With the help of Googlemaps and a London Tube iPhone App, getting around London was a breeze and even though we were there during the Winter season and London is notoriously known for its gloomy and rainy weather, we were extremely blessed to have had days of sunshine and little rainfall during our stay there.

And now I have put together a list of 5 things to do and see in the capital city of the United Kingdom which I hope will come in useful for anyone planning a free and easy trip there in the future!

London Post

1. SEE

London is home to four UNESCO World Heritage Sites- the Tower of London, Kew Gardens, the whole area made up of the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey and St Margaret’s Church and the historic settlement of Greenwich. These historic sites are insanely rich in history and is certainly worth the visit for a few (or many) photographs as keepsake, just to say ‘I HAVE BEEN TO LONDON’!

Recommendation: Take the tube to Westminster Station where you will exit right in front of the iconic Big Ben. The exit is also alongside the Victoria Embankment where you will be able to snap a couple of photographs with the London Eye (tallest Ferris Wheel in Europe) as your backdrop.

Travel: 5 Best Brunch Places in Adelaide

So apart from desserts, breakfast is the no. 1 meal for me. Love a good start to the day and love waking up early for a good breakfast meal with friends! So here’s my list of my favourite brekkie and brunch places in Adelaide.

1. Queen Street Cafe in Croydon
12 Elizabeth St, Croydon 5008

Must tries are Avocado, Black pepper, Lime on Dark Rye with Crispy Speck and Blue Swimmer Crab Omelette with Fresh herbs

2. Zest Cafe Gallery
2A Sussex Street, Glenelg SA 5045

Travel: 5 Best Dessert Places In Adelaide

It’s a well known fact that I have a major sweet tooth. Chocolates, cakes, ice-cream- you name it, Id probably love them. Anyway a few people have been asking me where the best dessert places in Adelaide are, so I have decided to compile a list of my favourite sweet places in this city. And since this is my list, it’s also based on my opinions so you probably may or may not agree with me but to each its own.

Right at the top of the list at No. 1 for me is good old CHOCOLATE BEAN
18 Union Street, Adelaide SA 5000

Chocolate Hazelnut Heaven
Chocolate Bean Round 2!

Nobody makes chocolate the way Chocolate Bean does. Love everything about their desserts, the coziness of the cafe and the friendliness of the staff. Maybe Im just biased because of its super convenient location. This is a favourite with the housemates and I! Must tries here are the Indulgence Plate, Chocolate Filth and their cakes on display.

Next..tied at No. 2 is THE AVIARY DESSERT KITCHEN
227 The Parade, Norwood 5067

Travel: Weekend in Robe

Disclaimer: This is going to be a really long post!

Spent the weekend in Robe with the family and it was beautiful to say the least…

Location: Robe is situated on Guichen Bay, about 350km south east of Adelaide i.e. 3.5-4hr drive away from the city.

Accommodation: This place has heaps of holiday homes- huge houses that owners rent out for you to stay. They vary in size and go up to 10 people per house. But if you’re going in a pair or a smaller group then staying in one of the cute motels would work as well :) We booked a house that was on a hill overlooking the jetty and had a 360 degree view of the ocean, sunset and sunrise! There are other houses that overlook the beach and cliffs so basically you’ll be spoilt for choice :)

Food: The main street has many cafes and restaurants so you wont go hungry :)

Cafe Belgiorno for dinner

Brekkie at Providore

Ice-cream at IceCream Shop! OMG I totally fell in love with this place! It was so cute and pretty! :)

Chinese food at Dragon Village Chinese Restaurant

Scenery: I’ll just let the photos do the talking here :)

Im definitely going back if I have the chance again to walk all the mountain and beach trails! We did not get to walk much because it kept raining intermittently on Saturday and the wind was so strong! But still, the place was perfect for a weekend getaway and retreat :) I’ll see you soon again Robe!
