Travel: 5 Best Dessert Places In Adelaide

It’s a well known fact that I have a major sweet tooth. Chocolates, cakes, ice-cream- you name it, Id probably love them. Anyway a few people have been asking me where the best dessert places in Adelaide are, so I have decided to compile a list of my favourite sweet places in this city. And since this is my list, it’s also based on my opinions so you probably may or may not agree with me but to each its own.

Right at the top of the list at No. 1 for me is good old CHOCOLATE BEAN
18 Union Street, Adelaide SA 5000

Chocolate Hazelnut Heaven
Chocolate Bean Round 2!

Nobody makes chocolate the way Chocolate Bean does. Love everything about their desserts, the coziness of the cafe and the friendliness of the staff. Maybe Im just biased because of its super convenient location. This is a favourite with the housemates and I! Must tries here are the Indulgence Plate, Chocolate Filth and their cakes on display.

Next..tied at No. 2 is THE AVIARY DESSERT KITCHEN
227 The Parade, Norwood 5067

Adelaide Eats: Sundaes at The Mac Factory

A couple of weeks back, the Mac Factory had a free sundaes giveaway/fundraiser for the Salvos. Now, they’ve officially added the yummy sundaes to their menu and what better day to try it than on an awesome sunny 27 degrees day :)

Good old simple Salted Caramel with plain vanilla $2.50

My Big Fat Greek Sundae $2.50- Roast almonds, walnuts, filo with honey and cinnamon syrup

And..I didnt realise the sitting area was done with its renovations! That’s how long I havent been sitting here and enjoying my macarons. Been doing takeaways far too much! Hee anyway! I enjoyed the sundaes :) Tastes as good as they looked and with a price like that..definitely worth it especially with the sunny weather of summer coming up!

Adelaide Eats: Milano Cucina

This place was packed on a Saturday night!! (as with all places in Adelaide..what’s new?) We managed to get a 7.30pm reservation but ended up only getting our first main at 9pm. That’s a whole new record I must say…

Frittura Mista $18.90
Fried local calamari, soft-shelled crab and whitebait with chilli and lime aioli

Risotto ai Funghi Porcini a Tartufo $19.90/$21.90

Mixed mushrooms, porcini, white truffle paste

Fettuccini al Doppio Ragu $15.90/$17.90
Egg pasta with double ragout of veal and pork, Milano style

Rigatoni con Verdure Arrosto $15.90/$17.90
Pasta with roasted eggplant, pumpkin, zucchini, capsicum, tomato, onion and ricotta chesse

Taglierini con granchio $21.90/$23.90

Egg taglierini pasta with blue swimmer crab meat, crab tomato broth, cream and chilli

Filetto di Bue al Pepe Verde $29.50
300gm of MSA scotch fillet chargrilled, served with green pepper sauce, sauteed baby spinach and roasted potatoes

You know how each time when we are made to wait really long for our food, we’d say ‘the wait better be worth it’ and more often than not, it is? Well, this time we were a little disappointed because the food tasted pretty ordinary and nothing that fantastic. The service though good was very haphazard because they were shorthanded both outside and in the kitchen so sometimes it was difficult to get hold of a waiter for your request. Nevertheless, the company definitely made the wait worthwhile :)

Adelaide Eats: Chianti Classico

Known as Adelaide’s ‘Best Breakfast Place’, Lara and I came here for brekkie after climbing Mount Lofty yesterday. Two hours of trekking through steep muddy slopes in heavy rain and wind, boy were we glad to sit down to a yummy breakfast. The food came really quick because we told them we were in a hurry, with only 45 min to eat since Lara had to rush back for MPPD! :)

Chianti Classico Selection Plate $19.90- Three course tasting plate of…

Frittata filled with peas, fontina & crisp pancetta.

Waffle with banana, butterscotch sauce & almond brittle

And Bircher muesli (With apple, berries, honey & toasted coconut flakes)

Great service, good food, classy ambiance! Will be back to try out more of their menu soon! :)

Adelaide Eats: Au Matin Calme

One of the newest French patisseries on Hutt Street! :) This is a compilation of 2 visits there. We went there the first time for the launch of their savoury crepes but it did not happen so we came back today and it was definitely worth the trip! Im sorry dear readers but we are back to amateur photos because these were taken by me. Hee

Smoked salmon, Avocado topping, Sour cream and an egg with Crispy Buckwheat Crepes $11.50

Definite YUMS! :D Check out that sour cream on the smoked salmon and the egg in the crepe. Amazing and delish!

Goat Cheese with Blood Orange Salad with Crispy Buckwheat Crepes $11.00

The saltiness of the goat cheese with the sweetness of the orange.. WINNING COMBINATION!

French Orange Crepes with Caramelized Bananas, Ice-cream, Chocolate Sauce and Vanilla Chantilly $12.80

Got to try the orange infused crepes and they were so gooood! Considering I do not really like orange flavoured items. The girls really enjoyed the caramelized bananas and the ice-cream :)

French Orange Crepes with Chestnut Puree $11.00

Was not a big fan of the chestnut puree but Aakriti loved it so personal preference I guess :) I only like chestnut nuts =P

Loved the layout of the place. Very bright and airy. Makes you feel happy sitting there having heart to hearts. Will definitely go back to try their high-tea at $20/person after Easter! :D Oh and they will be opening a second branch on 100 King William Road in May! Look forward to that :)
