Bread Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay Opens @ Marina Bay Sands Singapore

The name “Gordon Ramsay” is no stranger to any foodie on the face of this earth. Some of us may have either dined at one of the numerous restaurants that he opened around the world- UK, America, Europe and more recently, Asia, or seen his face on the small screen- Hell’s Kitchen, Hotel Hell and most notably, MasterChef US and MasterChef Junior, or heard about the impressive 14 Michelin stars under his belt. One way or another, there is no denying that Gordon Ramsey’s culinary reputation far precedes him.

The opening of his first restaurant in Singapore will be Gordon Ramsay’s second in Asia (the first being Hong Kong in September last year). Located amidst all the other celebrity chef restaurants in Marina Bay Sands, this British European restaurant which spans two floors- level 1 and B1, has a seating capacity of 149 and an amazing view of the waterfront.

While we were down at Bread Street Kitchen for dinner, we were extremely lucky to chat and even take a photo with the surprisingly affable and personable celebrity chef as he made his rounds to the different tables talking to diners and spontaneously taking a “wefie” with anyone who asked. He had been in town for the past few days for the official launch of Bread Street Kitchen and shares that he will try to fly in to Singapore as and when possible. The kitchen in the meantime, is run by Executive Chef Sabrina Stillhart whom Chef Ramsay has only full praises for.


The food here at Bread Street Kitchen has a similar concept to that of the flagship outlet in London, featuring an extensive range of British classics and favourites. Starters start from $18, Mains range from $26 to $46 while Desserts are $15 and up. Not exactly very affordable but fairly reasonable for a celebratory splurge with family and friends.

1) Mystery Box cook-off between celebrity chef restaurants (13 Sept)

Watch the first ever mystery box cook-off between executive chefs Jonathan Kinsella (db Bistro Moderne) and David Almany (Osteria Mozza) as they challenge each other to prepare a dish using ingredients from a mystery box. The chefs will have about 45 minutes to whip up a dish each in this cook-off and a trio of judges will select the winner.

2) LOUIS XIII de Rémy Martin tasting (12 Sep)

Discover the king of Cognacs, LOUIS XIII de Rémy Martin, made available to the public for the first time ever. Created in 1874, LOUIS XIII is an exceptional blend of 1,200 eaux-de-vie aged over 100 years, with each decanter highlighting the passionate work of four generations of Cellar Masters. Experience the LOUIS XIII with an amazing dessert pairing. Ticket for this exclusive masterclass is priced at S$50 (original ticket value of S$350) with a limited capacity of 40 participants. Limited-edition tickets have been packaged for this exclusive session, at $73 per person (includes the $23 ticket access to Epicurean Market for three days). The tasting is held on 12 September 2014, 4-5pm.

New Modern Asian Weekend Brunch at KU DÉ TA Singapore

Not all about eggs, baked beans, waffles or pancakes anymore, KU DÉ TA Singapore redefines brunch by putting a Modern Asian twist to it. The menu curated by Executive Chef Frederic Faucheux, is a 5 course Japanese-inspired one and a culinary showcase of his Nobu roots. From traditional favourites of Donburi, Okonomiyaki and Ramen to unconventional takes on Laksa and Char Siew Hong Kong Noodles, KU DÉ TA’s newly launched Modern Asian Weekend Brunch is set to excite the palate and create an identity of its own in the world of brunch.

Our Saturday morning started on a luxurious note with bowls of Edamame sprinkled with Maldon salt grains, freshly shucked Oysters adorned with rich fat spheres of ikura, chopped apple and sweet wobbly bits of konbu kelly, and Salmon Sashimi dressed in creamy shishito dressing with an addictive umami finish.

The Cheese and Chocolate Bar Buffet @ The Club, Marina Bay Sands

Every night at 8pm, The Club located at level 57 of Marina Bay Sands is transformed into a beautiful decadent display of chocolate desserts and pastries, taking you on a gastronomical journey as the myriad of textures and flavours tease and rapture.

Be enthralled by 40 chocolate themed desserts and 12 different types of fine cheeses from France, Italy, Spain and the UK as Executive Pastry Chef Ryan Witcher and his team entertains and tempts with their hand-crafted creations available at this one-of-a-kind dessert pinnacle experience.


I was extremely impressed with my last visit to The Chocolate Bar about 2 years back and that indulgent evening easily found its way to the top of my list of Chocolate Buffets in Singapore, yet to be displaced since. With a gorgeous view of our city skyline with all its lights complimented by the evening breeze blowing ever so gently and spontaneously, savouring desserts have never been more alluring.


Needless to say, I was thrilled to be back for an elevated and heightened experience of the newly introduced Cheese and Chocolate Bar Buffet, where the incorporation of a cheese bar coupled with six specially paired wines is set to tip the scales and bring the already glorious Chocolate Buffet to a whole new level.

FUSE @ Marina Bay Sands Presents Happy Hour Specials

Located right smack in the middle of the Tower 2 lobby of Marina Bay Sands is FUSE- a classy elegant lounge with a cool laid-back vibe drawing guests in to simply kickback with a cocktail or two paired with live bands and tunes from retro to modern rock. To sweeten the deal further, FUSE has also rolled out a couple of Happy Hour Specials from Sundays to Thursdays, 4pm – 9pm.


Enjoy a slice of Chocolate Raspberry Cake (U.P. $15) with either a Grey Berry Bramble or Raspresso Martini (U.P. $22) for just $28 from 12pm – 6pm.

The cake, with its layers of Dark Chocolate Sponge interlaced with Homemade Raspberry Jam and Raspberry-Chambord Ganache charms with its intense notes of sweet and sour, finishing off with a crunchy feuilletine layer of hazelnuts at the bottom. Lovely for afternoon tea and ideal for an post-dinner treat.


The recommended pairing of the duo of signature cocktails with the Chocolate Raspberry Cake is with good reason. A fancy alternative to the usual coffee and tea offerings during afternoon tea, FUSE instead concocts a tea and coffee- inspired cocktail to tease the taste buds just a little bit.

My pick of the evening was the Grey Berry Bramble– French Earl Grey infused Gin, Blueberry Syrup, Fresh Lemon Juice, Soda. Delightfully refreshing and great for the ladies. The alcohol taste in this one was subtle and complimenting instead of being overwhelming while the Earl Grey infusion was hard to miss and plain soothing. Undeniably good.
