Guide to Rundle Street Restaurants and Cafes

Happy 1st Birthday to Gninethree! It has been officially 365 days since this baby was born and the 285th post I have posted. Here’s to many more years to come!

To celebrate this one year anniversary, I have decided to put together the list of restaurants and cafes that have been very close to my heart and my home literally. Having been fortunate enough to stay in the Rundle Street area for the past 2 years and being at the heart of where the best foods are, even till late at night, this is my guide through my favourite one road street.

According to rundlestreet.com.au, Rundle Street East is the heart beat of Adelaide’s ever popular cosmopolitan East End District. Specifically located between Frome Street and East Terrace, this area is known for the many cafes, restaurants which offer many affordable lunch specials, quirky shops and Palace Nova with $6 movie tickets for Monday movies before 4pm!

Instead of using the website’s definition of Rundle Street (between Frome Street and East Terrace), I will be including places from the start of Pultney Street as well i.e. once the Rundle Mall stretch ends, to the beginning of Rymill Park. The places are categorized according to the various types of meals- mainly Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Dessert for convenient referencing.

Adelaide Eats: Scoozi Caffe Bar

So Ive eaten at Scoozi more than a thousand times for mostly dinners and suppers because 1) they are open to really late 2) they have the most amazing cakes at only $4.50 each 3) their pizzas are yummy 4) it’s conveniently less than a 5 min walk away from home. And I think I have given enough reasons. But anyway, Scoozi isnt exactly the first place you would think of having brekkie at yet they do serve up a pretty decent meal and I was pleasantly surprised.

Muesli with Strawberries and Bananas $6

Eggs Benedict $11.50– poached eggs with Virginian ham, sauteed spinach, mushrooms, topped with hollandaise sauce served on toasted muffins

Oven Baked Omelette $9.50– ham and cheese served with toast

And somehow seeing a well done poached egg always makes my morning!

Adelaide Eats: $8.90 Lunch Special at Rundle Spices

$8.90 lunch special! Yummy food and huge portions :D I like ordering takeaway from here because they always pack the food in cute white little boxes with handles. Anyway I realised all 3 photos of the dishes look similar but anyhow, they did taste different and for $8.90 (all rice/noodles dishes are $8.90 during weekday lunch times but otherwise $11.90 for dinner and weekends), I thought it was very worth it! Quick stop at Gelatissimo next door for dessert after lunch. How convenient :)

Kway Teow– Fresh flat rice noodles with seafood & seasonal vegetables.

Pud Thai– Traditional Thai rice noodles fried with egg, shrimps, chicken & bean sprouts topped with crushed peanuts.

I usually get the Rundle Spices Noodles but decided to try something new today! And Im glad I did! My new favourite- Hot and Sour! Tastes a tad like Tom Yam Noodles dry :D

Hot & Sour Noodles– Rice vermicelli with barbequed pork, chicken & vegetables in a hot & sour paste

Adelaide Eats: EST again!

Brought Mummy and MP here for the pizza and I sorta raised their expectations a little bit by telling them how yummy it was but thank goodness they were not disappointed! Even mummy who does not normally eat pizza, thought the ingredients were very fresh and crust well made. And of course needless to say, MP did not have much trouble polishing off nearly one entire pan!

I ordered my usual- Prawn and Mushroom

You can refer to my previous post HERE for a more detailed description! :D
